Forget the bananas! It's the fruit least likely to help with your problem.
Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables; drink plenty of water (if you think you're drinking enough, drink more), and get lots of excercise/activity. Couch potaotes are frequently consitpated, unless they have a high fat diet, which can lead a crazy seesaw of constipation followed by bouts of diahrrea. And take extra fiber in either powder or tablet form. It works, believe me. Most people take in at most half the recommended amout of fiber through their diet.
Don't take any medication AT ALL unless recommended or prescribed by your health care provider.

You probably need more fiber in your diet - especially at breakfast. Eat more fresh fruit and/or vegetables that have high fiber (like oranges, for example). Stop eating that sugar coated cereal that probably has no fiber at all, and eat something that has whole wheat or whole grain in it.

try eating a bowl of cereal. it sometimes work for me or i will eat it before i go to bed. then oh boy. drink a lot of water too, that can sometimes help.
