I am doing a project at college on the 1980s.I am designing clothes but associating it with the 80s influences! Basically What i need you to do is give me a list of things that reminds you or you had/wore, did in the 80s. i was age 5 - 15 in the 80s and here's the lowdown of the clothing and icons I remember:

brooke shields in blue lagoon
Melanie Griffith in working girl movie
pegged/tapered pants
leotards for jazzercise
leg warmers
ripped off the shoulder sweatshirts
the navy power suit with red tie
big shoulder pads
wearing tennis shoes with suits to walk in
reebox
air jordans
Hyper color shirts.
skater surfer clothes from stussy, pac sun, gotcha
super bright neon colors
fisherman style sandals
gelee shoes
those rubber band looking bracelets
madonna material girl underwear as outerwear
Members only jackets
Fleecey Pullover jacks, can't recall the brand.
Big Hair over poofed, over feathered hair
no idea what you mean by Soda Streams....
80s were a very scizophrenic fashion era. you had everything from the punk stuff leftover from the 70s, the very formal work suit thing with super high high heels, you also had the skater thing going with all the gotcha/pac sun stuff, the Madonna followers, Espirit the brand was very popular.
I hated 80s fashion, even living through it. And I don't relish looking back it either. We all looked like clowns compared to previous decades.

I was born in 1970 so the 80's were my era. I remember wearing skin tight jeans rar rar skirts (exscuse the spelling) and adidas trainers black with 3 white stripes n if you were anybody you had them. Also baseball boots were in. Hair was fluffy perms (OMG) straight on the top and permed at the back and everybody grew long tails of hair about an inch thick down the back of their necks!!!! Erasure were we all used to go about carrying cassette players with our music blasting out, we called them ghetto blasters. Hope this helps
