need to polish brass candle holders and some old watches, just wanna use a make shift metal polisher. anything to get the job dune. any suggestions? will h2o and vinegar work? or arm and hammer? pls help

I see answers here often stating that Coke works well? You might also try a scrubbing cleanser paste, or baking soda paste, or toothpaste.

Vinegar is a miracle substance, but I've never used it as a metal polish; though it can't hurt to try. I use it to soak old paint brushes and they come out like new.

Straight lemon juice is a great bleach alternative, but I don't know of other properties IT might have.

You might also try ASK.COM. They also have numerous help categories.

I suppose you could try mixing some ingredients, like Cream of tartar with others. The idea is essentially to get rid of oxidation on the specific metal.

I seen on mythbusters, they used coca-cola as a chrome polisher that worked the best out of all the polishers they used. Try it.
