Hands down I'd have to go with Magglio Ordonez, with Alex Rodriguez being a close 2nd.

it's a fairly close race this year, even with a-rod's staggering home run numbers.
the two top contenders at the moment are magglio and a-rod.
comparing the stats it looks like this
Hits - magglio 183 / arod 156
Runs - magglio 102 / arod 125
RBI - magglio 120 / arod 131
HR - magglio 26 / arod 46
BB - magglio 66 / arod 79
K - magglio 72 / arod 98
SB - magglio 4 / arod 22
AVG - magglio .354 / arod .310
OBP - magglio .426 / arod .415
arod has a huge advantage in terms of scoring runs, but in my opinion magglio is the better batter (power isn't everything- look at ichiro and nobody can claim he's not a great hitter)
ultimately i think it will come down to whose team makes the playoff's. if the tigers get in and the yankees don't, then magglio will take it. if the yanks get in and the tigers don't then it goes to a-rod.
i'd prefer magglio to get it, but odds are that a-rod will win it.

I think it will be Arod. His season is just a step above everyone else's. Magglio is having an mvp type year as well, but I think he will be in second, with Ichiro and Vlad right behind. It stinks for Magglio that he probably will finish second with the year he is having, but that just goes to show you what kind of year Arod is having, just awesome. To add, his play at 3B is gold glove caliber and much more brutal on the body than an OF in Magglio. His fielding is even more of a reason why he gets the MVP.

alex rodriguez the best baseball player to ever live and im not just saying that cuz im a yankees fan hes got more RBIS RUUNS AND HR those are like the most inporttant ways to win and if you took arod away from the yanks they would not be good at all last year when mags wasent so good the tigers still made it so if you took him away thay would still be good there for arod is more valluable

A-Rod just look at those numbers! He leads the league in home runs with 46 and RBI's with 136. He has 126 runs and has a chance at the 150-150 club. That is 150 RBI's and runs! If you factor in the "intangibles" then he is the one reason the Yankee's are in the wild card lead. He has carried them! (At least through April and May)
