windows update making my hd loud?

I just downloaded windows update and now my hard drive is making an audible noise. It used to be a really quet now the noise is annoying as hell. Am i correct in assuming that it is the update that is responsible for this?

Before my pc (dell e520) restarted the hd was silent. But now i can hear it.

No, your hard drive is failing. Back up all your personal data and replace the hard drive, ASAP!!!
