I just read "needful things", "cujo", and "the girl that loved tom gordon" in the last couple of weeks but have read loads. I am recovering a bit before I start another.

Has to be "CARRIE", "CHRISTINE", or "THE SHINING"!

I'm sorry, that there's THREE titles, there, - I just CAN'T CHOOSE between them!

And YES, - you are RIGHT, - Stephen King IS a literary GENIUS!

I've read alot of Stephen King books over the years and loved more than a few. "The Green Mile", "Insomnia" and "The Stand" were my favourite until I read "The Dark Tower". This book is right up there with "The Lord of the Rings" for sheer scale of imagination.

I must admit, I like his short story collections the best.

I re-read Cujo the other day though, and had completely forgotten what a sad tale that is.

I also like Misery and Tommy Knockers.

EDIT - I had completely forgotten Pet Sematry. Thats a great one too!

Tell you what though, its a pity that with the exception of the green mile, stand by me and perhaps IT when I was 11... most of the film remakes of his books are utter tosh.

Yes he is....
I love the Shining as far as novels go, followed closely by The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

Hi Natasha, YES the King is a genius, my fave by him is Rose Madder, if you haven't read it yet, give it a try it's fab. I have 2 copies, A first edition hardback, and a paperback version, I only read the paperback though, I want to keep the first edition as good as possible for the future! lol.

Well, I liked The Stand - just finished it again for the umpteenth time, but the ones I loved best were the Dark Tower series but there are 7 of those, so I suppose the Stand.

The stand, i really love the characters, Stephen King makes the real people you care about, and feel what they are going through.

I like his short stories. I think they feed a dying want of readers.

My fav's are Everything's Eventual (even though the ending could have been better...) and Autopsy Room Four. They come from the same book.

What about you?!

The Stand was just a great story. Insomnia actually made you think about life and death.

I'm reading Lisey's Story, and his imagination and creativity never cease to amaze me.

He can never retire! lol
