Your question is meaningless unless we assume that our Creator exists. Science can never tell us about purpose and meaning. Science doesn't answer "why" questions.

We all have this great desire for our lives to mean something and I think that if our Creator exists, He must have put that desire into our human nature in order to point us to seek Him.

If we reject God, then there is no purpose and no meaning. All we can do is to invent some use for our life. But nothing we invent/create for ourselves to do with our lives is going to give meaning. Whatever it is that we invent will be to make us feel good about ourselves and to forget about our meaningless existence.

Can anybody answer this question that doesnt involve some sort of religious belief system
