Take Euros, and take a debit card that draws on your normal bank account.
(Check with your bank that you can use your card abroad, and what it costs.)

You can take a credit card too, but keep it for big bills, (like your hotel,) and emergencies, getting cash can be very expensive.

Do not buy traveler cheques. They cost, when you buy them, when you change them for cash. You loose still more because of the exchange rate.
And you'll find that they are not accepted in many places and that you have to go to a main office of a bank in a bigger town to get your money.

I advise you to take Euro's, as dollars won't get you very far! Although, you can always exchange the dollars. :) Have fun in Spain! wooooo hehe:)

Don't take cash, take travelers' checks and your credit card. You may get a better exchange rate once you get to your destination.
