Why should you want to learn to deal with being insignificant?

Who gave you that impression anyway?

Just think of how many people's lives you affect simply by existing. Your Parents and Grandparents, Brothers and Sisters, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins etc.

Then there's the friends and associates from school and/or work.

And what about the people who made the clothes you wear, or built the house you live in, or produce the food you eat, etc.,etc.,etc. How would the lives of all these people be affected if you didn't or hadn't existed.

So how can you say you are insignificant?

The last few lines of Desiderata are, "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should".

You don't have to be rich or famous to be making a significant contribution to the daily progress of the world.

It all depends on whether you are negative or positive in your feelings about our place in this life. I believe that we EACH have an individual role to play, no matter how small we think that role is, in the grand scheme of things. I personally have always believed we are each here for a reason, even though i dont know the reason. Someone, somebeing, somewhere must have started us all off, even if it was as an experiment to see how we all thrive in everyday life. There has got to be more that what we do/see/think/believe every day. Every star is the night sky is small and insignificant in the whole universe theory, yet without even one, that universe might not be complete. And its still bloody confusing at my age, 43!, so whether you adapt to it or not is your personal choice, you can either stress over it and miss important things in your life, or you can just accept we are here for whatever and we cant change that. Now i am even more confused after reading what i have just typed!!!!!!!

ahhhhh.... you realize, you are insignificant, a gift !. There are 6 billion hearts beating in this world why would yours (or mine) be significant.. What do we signify, only humanity nothing more or less.

More people should ask how they can can stop feeling so all fired significant, the world would be a more caring place if we gave significance to others by our basic attention, rather than sought to monopolize the significance..

Go somewhere in the world where humanity is more numerous and basic (India, Africa or some such) it will help to see how insignificant lives can be

I must admit there is something about age that has helped me lose my need for significance, it seems it is simply not possible to jump up and down on this planet shouting notice me and still be happy.

Learn to look at things from a different perspective. After all, if you were truly insignificant you would not have got any answers to your question because people would not have been bothered to read it, let alone answer it.
Try to find this sort of perspective in other areas of your life. If somebody asks you to do something, don't think they asked you because you are a 'nobody', think that they asked you because they know that you are personally capable of the job in hand.
If you are asked for an opinion, it is because people really want to know what you think.

It may seem difficult at first but you will find that taking a more positive view of why things happen will help you feel better about life and this will help others to see you as a more positive person. This in turn will raise you into their view more often.

In the grand scheme of things, you are very significant.
Think of your daily life,,,,anything you do that has any impct on another, whether good or bad goes around,
Think of the movie "its a wonderful life"

The significance one deed can have on another can affect them in way way that changes there outlook, therefore they do something etc.....
it is the "little"things that make a difference.
all the little things add to one huge significance.

It is something you'll grow out of, and hence it does come with age. Depending on which side you take the discussion. Biologically you are significant, no one posseses your genes, so no one else accept you can pass on those genes 4 years to come. If you believe in God, you are significant, he would not have created something insignificant. dont u think?

hehe being remembered....fame...reminds me of socrates, no one wants to be 4gotten after death...mmm

Global significance isn't this what the likes of Alexandra, Caesars and Hitler yearned for?

No thank you the cost is too high.

Book yourself on to an assertiveness course or borrow a book from your library if finances are stretched.

You will find not only is it time well spent but it could turn your life around.

Try and be more forthright without being aggressive and stop letting folk walk all over you.

I don't think I am totally insignificant...but there are times in life when 'you' are not needed.

During these times when I am insignificant at that point - I find something else to do - simple
