For my show choir each section (sopranos, altos, basses, tenors) have to make a basket that has a theme (movie night, girls night out, etc.) to be auctioned off at one of our big fundraisers and I am looking for ideas. The ideas above are ok but overdone. So I am looking for fresh new ideas. Last year my group did a scrapbooking basket.

Anything would help!

Garden theme. Put together a variety of garden equipment such as gloves, knee pads, small hand tools, flower pots, seed packets, flowers, fertilizer (our local zoo sells "ZooDoo" and is a fun addition to any garden theme), you can even do wheel barrels and large shovels and gift certificates from a local nursery. You can also do Stepping stones, garden decorations such as bird baths, globes, statues etc.

A yard of books: Package up a bundle of books and stack them up using a yard stick to hold them together. They could be children's books (Dr. Seuss, The Magic Tree House etc.) or adult books or any particular theme. If you do a Mystery Books you can add a Sherlock Homes Hat and Magnifying Glass; If you do Children's books, you can add a pillow and blanket (for bedtime stories) etc. If they are romance novels add scented candles and bubble bath...

A "Busy Family on the Go Basket": Gift Certificates from local restaurants (fast food and sit down); Gift Certificates from food preparation companies where you go in and prepare 6 to 8 meals that you can freeze for future use; Thermos bottles, hot drink cups, picnic baskets to carry snacks or meals. Pre-paid gas cards, small travel games to occupy kids while their siblings play baseball, soccer games etc. or while they are traveling in the car.

A Quilter's Basket: Fill it with fabric; rotary blade cutters and refill blades, quilting pattern books, quilting patterns, dressmaker pins; measuring tapes; rulers of all sizes and shapes; gift certificate to a fabric store, quality scissors, quality thread in basic colors, bobbin holders, marking pens; quilting needles for sewing machines.

Camping basket: Outdoor equipment such as lanterns, eating utensils, plates cups, outdoor chairs; bug spray, sun screen, food coolers, propane cans for cooking, cookbooks for outdoor cooking, pots and pans for outdoor cooking. For cooking in an open fire: Hotdog sticks, hamburger presses, sandwich and/or pie makers, there is always the makings for Smores--chocolate bars, marshmellows and graham crackers. Water purifiers, 5 gallon water containers, propane stoves.

Sports Theme: Football, soccer ball and balls of every size and shape. (If you can get ahold of a university football with their logo--autographed or not--those are popular.) Backyard games: Croquet, badmitton, volleyball, bocce ball. Tickets to your local professional sports team. Sports bag, sports towel, sport hat.

Fishing Theme: A tackle box filed with lines, bait, sinkers, spinners, and all the stuff that fishermen like that I'm not able to name... reels, poles, fishing vests...bug spray. Then you can also add, recipie books for cooking fish and spices etc. to go with it. If you can find a humorous hat that relates to fishing add that as well.

Okay, I'm done for now...but I'll probably think of more later.

An animal or Zoo themed basket would be cool. As a Zoo employee myself I know that we donate a lot of tickets/memberships for silent auction charities. You can put animal type candles and gifts in the basket along with whatever a local Zoo donates. These type of baskets always seem to go over well because it appeals to families. Hope this helps!

You can do a "sports basket" get inexpensive tickets to a local team, a big finger, team t -shirt, pennant etc.

"BBQ basket" with stuff for the backyard chef.

"Homemade Coupons" stuff around the town/neighborhood. It promotes the local businesses and is a cool gift. Certificate for a free dry cleaning, ice cream scoop, 10% off florist, 1 gallon free gas, 20% off diner. Have the businesses donate.

"Holiday Theme" - any holiday, Halloween, Christmas, New Years - whatever. Ex - New years can be champagne flutes, champagne or sparking apple juice, a new calendar, noise makers, hats, confetti, a tape with the choir singing auld lang syne.

Good Luck

We did a game basket with travel size board games, deck of cards, poker chips, bingo supplies, and lottery tickets. We also put in snacks.

Someone else did a winter fun basket only instead of a basket, they used a metal "flying saucer" sled. They put in mittens, a hat and scarf, hot cocoa and cookie mixes, skating rink passes and other winter things.

You could do an autumn basket with new crop apples, maple syrup, honey, a little pot of mums, a shaker of stew spices with a recipe, and some pretty gourds and mini-pumpkins.
