Anyone else put a hole in their scoops of mashed potatoes so that the gravy will stay in the right place? Once, at Thanksgiving dinner, I asked one of my relatives if they did that and he responded "Not since I was 8". What, is that a childish way of eating? I think it's smart...

I have done that all my life, and I even go a step further and when I serve my guests plates, and I am the one to place food on the plate, I make the indention in the potatoes to pour the gravy into for them...
It works just fine like that...

OMG, yes I do that!!! It keeps the gravy from running into everything else on the plate. Also you can just dip the potatoes into the little "well" of gravy, so it's convenient.

It IS smart..Restuarants use a spoon to indent a well in mashed potatoes so the gravy stays in the "reservoir".

That is a smart way of eating and if you watch closley on the Simpsons and Family guy you will notice that they do it too.. Man I sounded like a nerd just then lol...♥

It may be childish but it's more convenient . I always make that gravy hole .

That's the way I do it unless I'm also having green beans. Then I like to mix them.
