Do men need women more or do women need men more?

I think women need men more...for example Bill Clinton cheated on Hillary many times with different women and she wouldn't divorce him. Also you see men with more than one wives before but you never see women with more than one husband and older men marry much younger women is much more popular than older women marry younger men.

There are some cultures which allow women to have more than one husband. They are few and far between, but they do exist.

It depends on what you mean by "need." Emotionally, I think it all depends on the individual and how codependent they are. In Hilary's case, however, I would say that she doesn't necessarily need him specifically as much as she needs to remain married. In the political world, women are already at a disadvantage. If they are divorced and single, their chances of getting elected are even lower than their chances if they are married to a scumbag.

also, just cause you only are aware of older men marrying much younger women does not mean it is a more likely scenario than older women marrying younger men.

I would like to point out as well that you are defining need by sexual promiscuity (which in most cultures is seen as OK for men, but not OK for women), polygamy (which is more of an indicator of a man needing women so much that one woman isn't enough depending on the context), and marriageable age, which I'm not sure how it is applicable to "need" in any sense.

Well...it depends on the character of the person whether it's a man or a woman. Some men cannot live without women while others prefer to stay single. For women, those who are dependent on men or weakling- type, they will need men more. But, for those who have self-confidence on themselves like career women, they will be able to live without men.
Nowadays, people marry to older men or women is because they want to get the money when the old fellow passes away or rather they are forced to do so.

Ok well that would totally depend on the person has nothing to do with sex. There are needy women and needy men in this world. Well for the species to survive (reproduce) they need eachother equally, but in a relationship I think women need men more.

Men typically do not rely on anyone for emotional support. If something happens it's bottled up or ignored, and you push through it. When is the last time you sat down with your wife/girlfriend/female friend and spilled your guts about your emotional state? If you're like me, the answer would be never (lol).

Women though, I dont know if they recognize that it's unhealthy to keep things bottled up, or if the emotional parts of the brain are different than men's. If they are hurt emotionally, that wound is permanent. It never heals, at best it's sewn together with a thin thread. They look to others for emotional support, it's almost as though it's not possible to keep it bottled up. Have you ever seen a woman when she's obviously angry, even though she says she's not? It's just a matter of time before that lid blows, and you can see that visibly.

Perhaps it's wrong to say that women need *men* more. Rather they need any emotional support more than men do, and in a relationship the obvious one to look to for that would be the guy. Men aren't looking for the same thing in a relationship though. No, they're not looking for sex... but they're not looking for the same emotional bond a woman is.

Nowadays, no, but in the early North African civilizations it was quite common for a woman to have multiple husbands. So while in this society, it is unheard of, it's not some inherent thing.

The media spreads the idea that men should love women based on physical beauty and sex. Some men take this to heart. Since there are some rather insecure women out there, they might be willing to settle for less for fear they'll never find more.

i think men need women more.. A man goes off for a long time (to war for instance) the woman can cope. But if the woman were to leave for a weekend, the man would probably pace around the house bored to tears.

Men are psychologically socially more dependent then women, however the idea of independence is more ingrained into the man to be macho, so he is at a constant conflict with himself.

Definitely men need women more, much more. Like you said, you see men with many wives, but you don't see women with more than one husband. If a woman makes enough income on her own, her quality of life is much better if she stays single. If a middle-aged man is still single, people either assume he's gay or feel sorry for him because he doesn't have a woman to take care of him.

Hillary stays with Bill because of her political ambitions. If she really needed a man, she'd divorce him and find someone more devoted to her. She's obviously not financially or emotionally dependent on Bill. Male politicians also stick with bad marriages to make themselves look like family men. Voters like that.

You always hear about men getting in trouble because, like Bill Clinton, they can't keep their hands off women, but you almost never hear about women getting into trouble for chasing their male office assistants around the conference table. Men also spend a lot of money on girly magazines, porn videos, prostitutes, and strippers. Most women would not waste their money on images of naked dudes or male strippers.

I think the need is equal. Both are just as necessary and when a man and a woman can respect each other and work as a team then what you get is pretty amazing.
