if u dont use identical dims in your computer it will course stability issues (dims are the little black chips on the ram), to fix this u can go to your bios and turn the multiplier on teh ram down a notch and or up the voltage by .1 or .2V, if u have ddr1 go to 2.8V ddr2 2.2V

ram is made by 4 major companies, samsing, micron, promos, and hinks, teh brand of the sticks dont matter as much as that the dims are of teh same type

need more info. but here is what I expect, does the computer start up completely meaning goes through everything in boot up and then when trying to do something on the pc it then crashes? if yes sounds like the the memory is bad, is the computer keep rebooting on its own after it crashes? the stick of memory is bad, believe it or not your memory is bad even though its new, take it back and see if you can exchange it, you may want to take your other memory with you to make sure you get the right speed and mhz. Just my take on it but I have had several brand new memory be bad right out of the package.

Check the speed of the RAM and its BUS, this can be verified by taking the motherboard model and then search through the specification from the manufacturer's website

From what you describe, it may be that the previous RAM and your new RAM are operating at different speed. Try using just your new RAM only and see whether the crash still occur.
