I don't know where his heart truly is but yeah, he could still be a "small town guy." If I was born and raised in a small town and moved to New York City and lived there for 10 years, 20 years, whatever... but my heart, mind and personality where still from/in the small town then I would say I was still a "small town guy." He could also be making it all up and he hates the small town atmosphere and just wrote a song that the "common" person could relate too while laughing all the way to the bank. I really have no idea. By the way, I wouldn't consider myself a Mellancamp fan but some of his stuff is ok.

here's what you do:
go to www.esnips.com
then on the searchbar, type small town john cougar then Enter
a new window appears with a media player on the upper left corner.
then, right click anywhere on the media player preferably near the volume control. a pull down menu appears.
then select properties, highlight the URL then copy it Ctrl-C.
then click OK.
open your windows Media Player
choose File then Open URL, paste (Ctrl-V) the URL on the box that you have just copied a while ago then OK.
the Windows Media Player will start playing it, while it was buffering, choose File again then Save Media As...
type on the dialogue box small town by john cougar.mp3
don't forget the .mp3 , okay? very important
then, windows media player will start to copy it. just wait..
then, after that, you ahve the song...try it!

Good Luck. and if you can't make it for the first time, try again. it really works!
