or

factor the top: x-9 = (sqrt(x)+3)*(sqrt(x)-3)

=lim (x-9)/(sqrt(x) - 3)
x->9
=lim (sqrt(x)-3)*(sqrt(x)+3)/(sqrt(x) - 3)
x->9
=lim (sqrt(x)+3)
x->9
=3+3
=6
