According to the definition of continuity, at x=2

lim (x->2) f(x) = f(2)

lim(x->2)f(x) = lim(x->2)(5x^3 - 10x^2)/(x - 2) =
= lim(x->2) 5x^2 * (x - 2) / (x - 2) = lim(x->2) 5x^2 =
= 5*2^2 = 5*4 = 20

Pssst Doug!!!!!1 Give me a thumb down, but remember that my answer can be chosen as the best just the same.

The only thing that will work is to make k = 0 so that the x term in the denominator goes away.

Edit:

Psssttt!!!! Amit Y. Existence of a limit at a point does -not- imply continuity at that point. In fact, at x=2, f(x) = 0/0.

component the numerator to get 8x^2(x-2)/(x-2). Cancel the x-2, leaving 8x^2. whilst x = 2, it is 32, so as that could desire to be your fee for ok word that f(x) = 8x^2 for all factors different than whilst x=2, the place this is undefined. including in f(2)=32 patches the hollow.
