The term 'higher power' is used in Alcoholics Anonymous to refer to who ever you choose to believe watches over you as you travel thru this life.
They use this term so they can avoid being too religous.

It generally means a power to handle things which we at our own,can't for an office worker ,his superior officer is an higher power.However,the term is mostly used to indicate some or other form of divinity like God.

When you study precarious life in such a vast universe you sometimes get a sense of something with some vast mind being in charge of the program, little as you may understand it, so this potential other than nature intelligence some call God, the fates, intelligent design, is understood as being the "higher power". 'Cause it's smarter than you, ha-ha, pfllth!

Higher Power means you have one engine that is bigger than the other.
for example, a 200 horsepower engine has higher power than a 100 horsepower engine.
