If you like books that are also a bit strange, particularly at the beginning, try Ruth Rendell's "The Crocodile Bird." It is a very empowering book to a young person, with a fantastic ending! Lot's of romance and seduction. If you like that , try Ruth Rendell's other books "of romance, written under the name of Barbara Vine."
She is a very good British writer who is talented enough to pull off excellent romances... I haven't read her work as Barbara Vine, but I would after Crocodile Bird; she's that good!
