I have tried to get a cheap hotel in Paris.
Not easy, I ended up paying 50 Euro per night.
You can get a cheaper hotel if you book before you go, but you will not be able to see what part of town you will be in.

For sight seeing, a lot depend on what you want to see and how much per day.
If you plan on seeing a lot of museums, buy a museum card. You also do not have to queue for the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay.

All the main sites seem to cost 10 to 15 euro, but if you want you can just go to the free ones, get to the main museums that one day per month they are free. The steps of the Sacre Coeur basilica are free, even a visit to the Church itself does not cost. (Gifts appreciated.)

Eating is more costly in Paris than in most other towns, but you can still eat for little if you wish.
You can get by with 10 Euro a day if you grab a simple lunch and buy bread and toppings for dinner. But you can as easily spend 100 euro per day, or 200 for first class restaurants, drinks on the street side cafes on the main boulevards and a nightclub.

So anything between 200 Euro (absolute minimum) and 2000 Euro, the last is luxurious and does include a bit of shopping too.
