So... I'm not all that big on wearing makeup, But I work in a restaraunt now and started wearing it more. I've always worn pencil liner on the inside of my lower lid, but I really like the look of eyeliner on your top eyelid. My question is, how the heck do you apply it?? I have both liquid and pencil liner, but every time I try to do it it comes out all shaky. how do you make it straight? I really like the look of liquid, I just cant get it too look right. Is there some secret I am missing?

Use a gel based formula and a liner brush (I will supply you a link to both under my listed sources) to line the lid. Dip the brush into the liner only covering the very tip, and dab the brush tip right up against the lashes, each time connecting each dabbed line to the one before it. This is easier than just drawing a line. Pointed brushes rely on a steady hand and precision, but flat brushes allow you to simply dab and press lines and connect them together.

The liner I listed is 10 dollars, and it is a better version of MAC's fluidline eyeliner, which is double the price and you get half the amount.

Practice makes perfect. No one knows how to walk when they are born.

You need a steady hand to use liquid eye liner. In my opinion, it's not recommended to use liquid eye liner during the day because it will looks dramatic and less natural.

I prefer to use pencil eye liner or if you want to look natural, try using darker eye shadow instead. Get a dark brown colour instead of black. Black color will makes the line looks harsh and not natural.

For starter, you may use a dark brown eye shadow by using a liner brush (you can get it from any beauty store). Even if you make mistakes, you can amend it without much trouble. Practice it on a steady hand.

Place your mirror lower and look down on the mirror. Your eyes will be half open by then. Next draw a thin layer of liner very close to your eye lashes from the inner eye lid to the corner of your eyes. Do not draw over the corner of your eyes or else you will look like an opera singer. Gradually, add more liner at the corner of your eyes to give it more deep set look . This is safer if you happened to make mistakes.

For more natural look, sweep a layer of eye shadow (which is almost closer color to your eyeliner) on top of the drawn liner pencil to soften it. Or else, you may either using an eye shadow brush or the cotton swab lightly brush on the eye liner.

Practice using pencil eye liner first. When you are pro in that, you can try the liquid eye liner. Good luck

Make sure the eye liner you're using comes off the pencil easily... some pencils are very waxy and you'll be there forever and think it's you, when it's not, it's the pencil.

I don't do all that stretching I've seen other's mention. I would think that would make it harder to do.

Practice makes perfect, but to this day I'll slip and make it real thick in one spot. That's what Q-tips are for... just smudge it and you have the perfect smoky eye.

They even make special Q-tips for eye make up, but regular Q-tips work fine too. Many pencils comes with a smudger on the opposite end but I can't seem to make those smudgers work as good as a Q-tip.

ok...here's how: you start by learning how to draw using a pencil liner. Start by pulling ur eyelids and then draw across as a straight line. Once you're confident with using pencil liner, you can start using the liquid eyeliner. You can steady ur hand by placing it on a table while holding the mirror up the other hand.
Or you can start off with little strokes and then combine the little strokes to form a straight line. Cheers. Hope I helped. :)
(If there's a mistake, wipe it off with Q-tip.)

Balance your arm on your vanity, or bathroom sink. Look directly into the mirror and hold the brush at the inner corner of eye. You may want to open your mouth (its okay -I won't tell!) to help you out. Begin with just a slight dampening of the brush with color. (easier to control) draw a sketchy iy you will --dash type line at the very base of you eye close to the lashes. By drawing the dash---- the line will look straight and give you the finished look you desire. Later your dashes will be a straight line as you will have mastered the technique.
Oh- it looks like a straight line when youre done, no one will know its applied in a dash line manner.
Neverextend pass the outer corner,( too passe') and never apply liquid on the bottom this closes the eye and emphasizes dark circles. Yikes!!

happy eyelining its a great look.

Try using a very small slanted brush with dark eye shadow. Just rub the eye shadow on the brush and onto ur eye lids. I recommend this because it helps it to look more smokey without such a defined line. For the bottom eye lids it looks more blended and flawless because with liners you can usually see the lil mess-ups where the line isn't straight.

it takes some practice..

i pull out the outer edge of my eyelid so that it's stretched.. that way the eyelid is smooth and the pencil will glide on nicely. start from the inner corner and trace directly above your lashes..you should trace as close to the lash line as possible.

you should also look into getting a good quality pencil liner. they go on much smoother without pressing hard! i use a MAC black retractable pencil. love it!

good luck! you'll get it!

dont wear it on the inside of your bottom eyelid, you'll end up with a bunch of stys (very painful). . wear it just on the rim of your bottom eyelid where your lashes grow from. For the top lid, make a line along the line of where your lashes grow in, then smear it till its cloudy. . then put another thin line down it for a bit of an outline. THis way it doenst look cheap like just a regular bold line across your eyelid would. . key: Smear it in a bit

I use a pencil liner and stretch my upper lid across and apply it that way. I don't really get along with liquids...
