Yes it is normal to have a UTI and vaginal infections and not be sexually active. There is no special reason to associate it with sexual activity.
And your gf is protected by Dr.-patient confidentiality ethics. That means that Your gf can talk freely to the Dr. and she will Not tell her parents about it. And your gf really should tell her Dr. that she is currently sexually active so she can properly diagnose and treat her. Again it will Only be between her and the Dr.
And I don't want to lecture but your gf is a woman and she needs to take responsibility for caring for her health. So it would be a good idea for her to start to see a gynecologist and have regular exams. And because she is sexually active she should consider getting a birth control prescription or other options. She can discuss that with her Dr. too. Hope this helps.

It is absoulutley possible to get a UTI without any sexual activity at all. UTI is caused by bacteria in the urethra, and can be caused by several things. The reason some people think that that is the only way to get it is because they sometimes call it the honeymooners infection. (Silly) But as I think most doctors would advise, the bladder should be emptied after sexual contact just as a precaution of any bacteria that may have been exchanged, ( hands, mouth, etc. ) I hope this helps.............

Yes, even infants can get UTI's. Although being sexually active can make you more prone to UTI's, it is definatelly possible to have one withought it. Women are more sussesptable than men due to the short distance 2-3in from the opening of the urethral meatus to the bladder. She needs to seek medical attention. For future notice it is very important to make sure she voids after sexual intercourse, it helps to flush out bacteria that can be forced into the urethra during intercourse.

It IS possible for females who are non-sexually active to get a UTI. Something such as improper wiping (Rear to front instead of front to rear) can lead to a UTI. Tell your friend to go to the doctor.

She needs to see a doc and they will not ask if she is sexually active. A UTI has NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX. You get one when bacteria grows in your bladder. She needs to go get this checked out ASAP because if she doesn't get it treated it can spread to her kidneys or her blood stream and she could wind up in the hospital.

My daughter had it when she was 10. She got it by not changing her underwear frequently and wearing tight pants. Yes, one can most certainly get a UTI without sexual activity.
Your friend needs to be checked out ASAP. My daughter's infection reached her kidneys and it could have killed her, had it not been treated in time.

Ye s, it is soooo possible, my 4 yr old had UTI, for months before she got cleared up.
we had to drive 2 hrs to a specialist, they did all kinds of test on her, i felt so sorry for her.
but it turned out, she was told not to use soap , in that area, it clogs you up.
i've been in skin care like forever & i knew soap clogs yur pores, but then i also learned soap can clog your uretha too.!
they need to put warnings on that stuff! haha
we immediatly got her some Shaklee soap --free --soap, & she was better in no time..
