I am a very simple, frugal individual and I'd like to know if there is hope for the real american dream? I'm a single 24 year old female, no kids, no baggage, hard working, vegan. My dream is to live in a quaint simple home, grow my own crops, and live off the fruit of the land!

Yes it is very possible. It really depends what you are looking for. Two areas that you might want to check out are Buffalo New York and the Niagara area. Or Ohio in the YOungstown area. Both of these two areas have houses that range from the 20,000 to 50,000 range and up. Your purpose for buying a house is the important part if you are looking for investment properties, foreclosures, or rehab projects your price points will change.

Well I come from Southern Tennessee and homes are very reasonable there along with the cost of living. Most of the land is farmland. My father and brother both own cattle and horse ranches. It is very beautiful there. There are lots of mountains, rivers, creeks, lakes and wildlife area. I lived in Winchester which is next to Lynchburg. You can go on Photobucket.com and search for Tennessee pictures. Also there are a lot of real estate pictures online with various websites. You can for sure find a nice home and possibly with land under $100k . If there is anything I can do to help let me know. Good luck!!!

Anderson IN is depressed, but there's a lot of area in Indiana that would do nicely. I don't live near there anymore, but the most hardworking, ethical person I know does, and he does realty. Here's his email - seangreer@prodigy.net

I'm just a stay at home dad - not being paid on commission. Even if he's not where you want to move, he'll answer questions for you - and you won't have to pay anything unless you want to actually use him to buy a house or refer from him.

You might be able to get something close to Indianapolis.

My cousin inherited our grandmother's house and is asking $89K for it, I don't think it is worth near that. There are many places where you can get a house for under 100K.
