I would measure its height and cross-sectional area, calculate its volume, and then use the well known density of cows: mass = 1.36 grams/cubic centimeter to arrive at an approximation to the mass.

An appropriate dimension to use would be equivalent bundles of hay (EBH), which usually have a mass of about 10 kg. Therefore, calculate the approximate mass (convert to kg) as above and then divide by 10 to obtain the mass in EBH.

Hi. Archimedes determined that mass was equivalent to displacement of a fluid such as water. Dunk a cow in water and you can determine its mass.

m = w / g

'm' is mass
'w' is weight
'g' is acceleration at Earth's surface (..about 9.8 meters/sec/sec..)

Do the math yourself, or use the converter at this website ==>http://www.ajdesigner.com/phpweight/weight_equation_m.php
