I would love to learn more about it. I saw the "Universe" series on the History Channell and would love to know more about our plantes, stars, and how we all came to be... can anyone reccomend good books that are not full of scientific jargon? Thanks!

Terence Dickinson is my favourite astronomy writer: he has a knack for making complex topics comprehensible.

Astrology is the study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs.

As for a good Astronomy book I would recommend the book we are using at my school, Texas A&M University, in my Astronomy class, Foundations of Astronomy, by Michael A. Seeds.

As a matter of fact, I am going to go read some of it right now.

Please do not compare Astronomy to Astrology.
Astronomy is based on scientific research,
Astrology is based on fictional fables.

I started with a book by Patrick Moore. "The Night Sky' He has some very simple explanations on Astronomical phenomena. - please note: that is Sir Patrick Moore from the UK the scientist not the Greenpeace activist from Canada.

Some books by Carl Sagan are also easy to understand for biginners - eg The Cosmos

astronomy. dont confuse the two, they are very different! The best place to start is at the library. get a book or two and maybe a documentary and see what arouses your interest. Just go in and start flipping through pages. there is heaps of information out there, so its best to see what sort of book you "read" best.

I think you mean astronomy instead of astrology. Look for any books by Carl Sagan.
