Tonight on CSI New York, a guy fell from a building and splatted his brains on the concrete. They went into this long explaination on how in this heat the tissue would "fry" before they could collect it.
They pretty detective said..."Well that's a NO BRAINER!"
They said "Tell me she didn't just say that!"
The pretty detective could have said "No pun intended!" --- at this point.
It was a pun because she said it was a no brainer and the man had no brain at that point!

Well a pun is: "the usually humorous use of a word in such a way as to suggest two or more of its meanings or the meaning of another word similar in sound." To answer your question - if anyone unintentionally makes a joke like this, then they say, "no pun intended."

There was a contest like this where we were supposed to submit 10 of our best puns to be judged. I submitted 10 of my own puns to see if any of them would win, but no pun in ten did -- no pun intended.
From the movie Rat Race:
Enrico Pollini: I am Enrico Pollini. Now, I know what you are thinking... Enrico is a girl's name.
Owen Templeton: No I wasn't.
Enrico Pollini: No pun intended.
Owen Templeton: What pun was that?

I had a friend, Dan, who was walking down the hallway with one of those decorative pencils that teachers put up on the wall. I said "Hi, Dan!" He said..."Hey there lady...I've got a big pencil...no pun intended". Pah. I lawled.
