Hi ANGEL.
That is a very big question (for such a short one). :-)
I do not purport to have all the answers, but I do know who has them. But before I get to that, I will show you a little something that touched me in a positive manner.
WHAT IS LIFE?
Life is a gift. . . accept it.
Life is an adventure. . . dare it.
Life is a mystery. . . unfold it.
Life is a game. . . play it.
Life is a struggle. . . face it.
Life is beauty. . . praise it.
Life is a puzzle. . . solve it.
Life is opportunity. . . take it.
Life is sorrowful. . . experience it.
Life is a song. . . sing it.
Life is a goal. . . achieve it.
Life is a mission. . . fulfill it.
---------------------------
Life truly is a gift, given to us by the One who truly does know the purpose of it all. It is also an adventure, filled with joyous times when we can sing — "make a joyful noise unto the Lord."
Life can certainly be sorrowful at times. We have all known times of sadness and mourning. Even Jesus had emotions, sadness included. The shortest sentence in the Bible is "Jesus wept." (John 11:35)
Life is a game...Life is a struggle — two different sides to the same coin? It is definitely like a puzzle, hard to solve. However, as the cliché goes - "persistence pays off." At times, life is complex, but interesting, a never-ending path, with twists & turns, and mysterious doors here & there. At other times, that path is winding uphill, covered with vines to trip us, the danger of getting lost all around us.
Throughout the journey — and life is most certainly a journey — there is great beauty all around us. Even walking along a broken sidewalk, past empty, trash-filled lots of an inner-city neighborhood, a flower & leaves grow between the cracks. I watch as a small child draws, in pink & yellow chalk, a flower pot around this flower that grows. In spite of all the ugliness surrounding her, she chooses to see the beauty that is there.
She has hope. This hope has taught her how to see the beauty amid the ugliness. She sees what's ugly, too, but she chooses to focus on the beauty, regardless of how little there seems to be. But it is there. It first started with hope.
Jesus offers us hope, hope everlasting. His mission, His purpose on this earth was to teach us, and more importantly, to die for us. So that we might be saved.
My purpose on this earth is to follow in His footsteps. When I stumble and lose my balance, He catches me. My goal was to unfold the mystery that is God. My tools are my mind, spirit & soul, along with prayer & the Bible, filled with God's teachings, Christ's teachings.
Our purpose is to live life to the fullest, to touch each other's lives in a positive way. "Love your neighbor as yourself." Who is our neighbor? Any human being is our neighbor. A total stranger is our neighbor.
Once, on the bus, coming home from work, we pulled into a stop. As people crowded around the back door, myself included, I noticed a homeless woman outside, frantically scanning the faces of all who exited the bus. She wasn't asking for money, or anything for that matter. She appeared to be searching someone out. I admit I was curious, but people just quickly walked by & around her, ignoring her, seemingly not even noticing her.
As I was walking, she reached through the crowd, grabbed my arm & called, "Miss, Miss, can I ask you a question?" I stepped out of the crowd, with some people, sadly, looking at me as if I was stupid. I asked the homeless woman what she wanted to ask me, assuming that, as usual, it would be for money. It was not.
She asked me, "Miss, do you believe God really exists?" I was taken aback by her question; but I answered her that God most definitely did exist. She smiled, then looked down, shyly. She asked, "do you think that Jesus notices me? Do you think He cares about me?" I told her that of course Jesus notices her, and that I knew for a fact that Jesus loved her very much.
She looked absolutely shocked. She looked up at me, took hold of my arm in her 2 hands & thanked me profusely. I told her she didn't have to thank me. I thanked her for allowing me to be used a God's messenger that day. I asked her if she had a Bible; she didn't, but said she'd like one. I always carry an extra one with me to give to someone if the need rises. It does surprisingly a lot.
That day, my purpose was to be a messenger girl for God. I was so awestruck that He saw fit to use me to be a messenger for Him. I gave Him thanks & praise.
One day I will be with Him in Heaven. That day could be tomorrow. According to my doctors, it was supposed to be 2 years ago, even though I am too young. But God apparently has more for me to do.
My purpose is whatever His purpose is. I am His faithful servant, & I am very grateful for that. I am at peace, regardless of what happens to the physical body I live in.
Peace.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Well WOW! You get right to it, don't you. My answer will not be popular, but hey, what is life without risks. The only purpose to here is to wake up, realize that here has no truth, & get back to our real idenity. This thing so many think is real is the antithesis of truth, & once we have removed our self imposed exile none of this will even be remembered, a fact the ego hates, because it really tries to prove it is real. Most of what is experienced here has nothing to do with Reality.

Hi,
The purpose of it all is having a sense of purpose. Without intention, there would be nothing to keep us going, nothing to drive us. The purpose is to keep on searching or striving towards that elusive goal. Why is it elusive? To give fuel to the purpose. When the fuel runs out, the purpose vanishes and then there is nothing or everything … we have that, yet to discover!

To keep the cycle on. As those before our time had given us good and beneficial examples of how they went through life; so as we to the next generation to come. We should try to relate to the best of our ability, in the best way possible how to live a life in peace despite all the lurking traumas around. To bear and leave this hope with them so that they too can be hopeful till their time torch is finally handed over to their next children.

Simple honey. Don't think too much and get on with life. The more you think of purposes, the more worries there are for you.
Cheers and have a nice week ahead :)

Why do you assume it all has a pupose? Things have whatever purpose you choose to give them. Until given a purpose by you, nothing will have a purpose for you. And thats OK. Not everything needs a purpose. Somethings just are.

Purpose. The purpose is choice. The choice we make to live. Even if you think you didn't make that choice. You did.
So simply. The purpose is to live.
How you go about that is a whole different story.

When the Jest for Life is exhausted , when the tiredness sets in bones, such philosophical questions arise and eat away out time, life , now, present moments.
Had it been ever occurring that Now is the time to look in. We have been in looking out and out since decades but never ever finding time to look in..
The purpose is to be experienced and not debated upon

It all depends on where your journey is taking you. In life we all have choices and you can choose to see the beauty in everything or you can choose to be bitter and see nothing but ugliness.Me, I choose the beauty in everything and take nothing for granted. I choose to leave the world a little bit better by challenging myself to do 1 good deed a day and try not to be noticed for it. Its harder than you think.

The purpose of everything is because of God. God is only the root or primordial cause why we are here. Life is centered on Him because each one of us owes it all to Him. God is the reason why we are here on earth. To know more about Him and serve Him as well as glorify Him!
