I don't really know if he did what they said he did in the bathroom, or if it was even really a crime (since he didn't actually expose himself even if he was interested in doing so, and there is a strong possibility he wasn't interested in doing so).

But he pleads guilty, then says maybe he isn't after all. Then he resigns, now he wants back in. I don't even remember Ross Perot or John Kerry switching this many times in a row. Perhaps thinking before acting would work better. Just a thought.

Think about it this way. The man has been in the closet his entire life. He is so sexually repressed that he seeks outlets in public restrooms. He comes from a very conservative state, and has taken a homophobic stance for his entire 27 years in Congress. He has hidden his true nature from his wife, the voters, his colleagues, and possibly even from himself. A man this conflicted would have to be at least a little bit crazy after so many years. Don't be surprised if the next news is Larry Craig's suicide.

It's different living life in the public eye. Very easy to sit in the comfort of our own homes and say what he should have done, or what we would have done in the situation of being falsely accused in an airport far from home. Maybe you, or I, or any of us might have made the same decision, under stress, to plead guilty to a misdemeanor so we could get on the plane and go home.

He should never have pled guilty. Before he did that, it was just a 'he said he said' type of thing and his lawyer could have fixed that right away. Don't plead guilty to a cop. Get a lawyer first.

To me, picking up a piece of toilet paper from the floor of a public restroom is insane.

I think he's probably been on the "down low" for quite a few years, and is extremely embarrassed now that it got out.
