I went to my doctor today because I have a lump in my breast. I've had it for awhile & was told previously by a different doctor that it was a cyst but lately I've been having a little pain in the breast. My doctor thinks it could be a blocked milk duct but she wants me to get a mammogram & ultrasound done just in case. I also have a little clear & milky white discharge if I squeeze the nipple. She said I could still be lactating but I haven't been breast feeding for 18 months. Anyone had anything like this happen to them?

I have had a clogged milk duct in my left breast for over 20 years,I had the mammogram to double check the diagnosis, it was correct. Every so often it seems to get a little bigger, becomes more tender ( around my period) and sometimes it itches, I never have had any discharge though. Good luck!!

Sounds like your doc is on the right track. If you feel confident about her abilities, follow her guidance. If not, get another opinion. Do NOT let someone talk you into taking a wait-and-see attitude. Get an answer - one way or another - now. I went through this too. Turns out it was cancer - but it was in an early stage and I'm fine now (just made 10 years!). You gotta be your own best advocate.

p.s. my mammograms are always normal. I have dense breast tissue and the tumor was obscured. I found the lump myself.

yes,
it was a clogged milk duct that continued to stay infected until I had an open sore the size of a quarter!
I had surgery in the drs. office to remove that portion of the duct. a lilttle discomfort afterwards, no big deal, and the scarring was minimal. but get a mammo to be sure

I would agree with what your Dr. has said.
