Probably $100 give or take twenty.

The thing to watch for if doing it yourself is that the bolts that hold it in place are not so tight that the starter gear will not disengage the flexplate gear teeth. It's common to have to add a shim between the starter and the block. And it's best to use some feeler gauges to set the lash between the starter gear and flexplate gear.

It's a relatively easy repair but if you booger it up it'll cost you a flexplate and this means dropping the tranny to get to it.

Good Luck!

if you do it yourself then not much. The starter only costs about $30. Mechanics ussally charge about $75 an hour. The book calls for a hour of labor and the mechanic can do it in half the time. All you have to do is pay attention to how you take off the wires so you can put them back the way they were.

What year and model? Just shooting from the hip with S&H I would say around $70 for a new one, if you can get one of those. Say the year and model I could sent you a link to where to get one for a good price. They are usually not hard to install.
