You should wait at least six weeks until you see your doctor and make sure everything has healed ok. But I wouldn't really worry about it too much I don't know any woman who was dying to jump back into bed again right after the baby.

The doc says wait 6 weeks after delivery. Reasons being.. You are very FERTILE after delivery because your hormones are all wacky trying to get back to normal from the pregnancy that you just had. I have a 5 1/2 month old I was back at exactly 6 weeks but we used protection. It was sore when he entered but like they say: Its all gravy once the head is in. Just dont let him pound inside you right off the bat just to make sure that you are not to sore. Use a condom the first couple times so you are not prone to infection from everything up in there being open and touched for delivery. And if it hurts the first time after delivery having sex dont be afraid to tell your partner that it hurts he will understand there are other ways to please both of you until you are ready down there, just because your body is telling you your ready doesnt mean that ITS ready down there yet LOL Good Luck!!

The best I could judge is to go slow, and if it hurts at any point, that's not a good time.
I had sex three days after my stillborn daughter (was a bit crazed to have another baby right away) and that was unbelievably sore and very painful, plus I got a whopper of an infection.
After giving birth to my eldest surviving daughter, I waited 2 weeks, and only felt pain at deep penetration (her birth was a combination of vaginal and Caesarean.)
After my twins, I waited 3 months, and still felt pain (they were a straight C-section., but their weight and size dilated me before the birth.)
I think it's part psychological, part physical. Try it as soon as you feel ready, but make sure you tell your partner there's a chance you still might not be comfortable making love.

I have had 6 kids so i definitly know the answer to this one. Your supposed to wait six weeks but I have done it earlier. I think alot of it also depends on it you had an episiotimy (where they cut you a little to help the delivery) and stitches. Then you should def. wait. Otherwise, I know from personal experience its ok to start having sex again when you feel ready. Just listen to your body.

Your soposed to wait until 6 weeks after, when you go to your checkup. BUT my mother did not follow those rules. When she had my brother, she went back for her 6 week check up and was pregnant with ME. Thank god, becuase 20 years later i am giving her a beautiful granddaughter ( she was due 8 days ago)

Doctors usually say 6 weeks, but if you're feeling up to it before then, just be careful and take it really slow.
