basically the opening of a scene starts things out, kind of like a plot to follow, and it continues till the ending scene, which then concludes the whole story line.

Opening starts it

Ending finishes it

An opening scene sets things up and is meant to hopefully interest the reader in continuing the story. And ending scene draws the story to a close. Hopefully all loose ends have already been dealt with before the ending scene occurs so the ending seen can give the reader a final sense of fulfillment.
