There are different ways to protest.
If you picket, you carry a sign protesting.
You can protest without carrying a sign also. You can march, sing, chant, or whatever manner of protest you want.
If you strike, you refuse to do your usual work, as a protest. Usually you strike to protest poor working conditions or bad pay. Strikers often take turns picketing, but they are still striking when they are at home not picketing.
