As if I were a 2 year old...

I will be entering at the bottom of the corporate ladder. I have noticed a lot of libertarians are for both the gold standard and the abolishment of a minimum wage, as well as a free market system. If this were to happen (hypothetically) how can you promise my corporate bosses wont eat me alive?

Appreciate it.

Err..climbing the corporate ladder is nice and I had actually planned on doing just that...It's just that I would really enjoy being able to eat and sleep indoors at the same time.

The idea behind returning to the gold standard is that there is nothing of value backing up US money any more. This makes some people nervous. Of course, like paper money, gold only has value because we agree that it does. While it has some useful purposes, it has far less intrinsic value than oil, water or a hamburger.

The notion of eliminating protections for workers is based on the idea that if workers are unhappy they will simply work somewhere else, and bosses will have to treat people right or nobody will work for them. This assumes that people will move from Detroit to Los Angeles to Singapore and beyond as the jobs dictate, that everyone has skills that easily translate into multiple job options, and also assumes that there are no unemployed people willing to accept a slightly worse deal to get a job.
