I have followed his successes over the years & he sure is an intrepid bod - but I fear one that has reached the top of his egotistical ladder. I say this because I read that he took off without leaving a flight plan or taking any emergency equipment with him, so clearly he thought that he was fairly invincible. Sadly, any amount of experience can't save someone who is at the mercy of a piece of manmade equipment. However experienced you might be, there are protocols that need to be followed & he clearly didn't. I hope they find him OK & if they do, I hope then, that he has learned a very valuable lesson.

He's crashed..which would be odd considering he is an expert flier and maintains his aircraft with precision....so I would have to say he either had a sever medical problem or his plane was sabotaged.....it was stupid of him not to file a flight plan...I can't understand why the FAA doesn't make it mandatory...it doesn't take long to write down which direction you will be flying and how far out...he could be miles from where he is suspected of going.
If he didn't take at least water with him..the 100+ degree weather has claimed his life by now.

I think dog'n'2cats is right on. I don't care how experienced you are, you should always file a flight plan and take emergency equipment with you. I hope he's all right, although it seems doubtful, and if they do find him alive, I think they ought to fine his **** for having to have others be out there risking their own necks looking for him.

He probably crashed and it will take quite a while to find the wreckage of his plane since it is such a remote area that's hard to reach.

I think he has done some low flying and has come to grief by stalling the plane & crashing into the ground. I'll be suprised if they find him alive!
