Just don't wear jeans. There's nothing wrong with wearing some nice slacks and a nice shirt. Don't wear all black.

Check out the invitation. If it says black-tie you pretty much have to wear a dress. That is, if you don't wannt to leave a bad impression. A dress is always preferable anyway to go to a wedding. BUT if the invitation did not indicate that it was black tie, I think you can probably get away with dressy pants. Ask your boyfriend, how fancy the wedding will be because the less fancy, the more okay it is to wear pants.

You don't have to wear a dress, please some women wouldn't step 2 feet near one. You can wear nice slacks/dress pants/profesinal pants to the wedding, with a nice top. Like a special events top thats more than casual. You could also wear nice assories to match and make the outfit boom.
If this doesn't work wear a skirt with a nice top/blouse.
BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT WEAR JEANS OR A LOT OF WHITE.

Yeah pants are OK...a dress would be better...but if you must wear some pants i would suggest the new wide leg trouser with a high waist and a really cute blouse with some nice accessories to give the outfit some style. Choose some neutral tones like creams, beige's,tans, yellows.Along with some sexy heels you might be lucky enough to catch the bouquet!

I think it would be fine to wear dress pants and a nice blouse. I don't think there is a rule stating you have to wear a dress.

Ask if the wedding is formal or casual.
If it is formal, wear a dress. It won't kill you to dress nice for one evening.
If casual, wear your nicest pants and blouse.
