The ultrasounds show that it is not getting any larger (2 cm) but it is staying the same and it is very painful. Has anyone ever had one this long that actually went away on it's own without surgery or anything? Thanks.

Yes, I've had this happen before...sometimes more than one at a time. They can last for months on end, but usually will get larger the longer they last. Some burst on their own, some have to be taken surgically. Usually, the gyno will prescribe painkillers for you.

Unfortunately, this time mine hasn't gone away on their own this time and I am set for sugery on the 11th if they've not burst by then.

Good luck!!!

I have had ones that were there for about a year, the GYN put me on a birth control pill that was designed to keep it from getting any larger. it actually ended up causing it to shrink. I have also had a few that grew and sort of exploded( so she told me) those were as painful as giving birth

Yes I have had them like that and the only way it went away was it bursting which was super painful. If it's not causing you any trouble, you could leave it. If you are getting pain from it, I would have a doc remove it.

I had a 4cm long one. It was so big that my OB/GYN thought it was just a full bladder! She recommended surgery, but I decided not to and it did go away all on its own. I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

I did. It was so painful. My doctor tried macroscopic surgery with no success. Later had it remove surgically and been pain free ever since.
