It was for undergrad studies. However, even though everyone says the UC's are good schools, their out of state prices (I don't currently live in Ca) are thru the roof. Most of the CSU's were less than half which is much more financially manageable for me. I was also looking more towards the public schools for the same (money) reasons.

Like many that the others listed, Stanford, USC, any UC, Clairemont colleges, many state schools... the list goes on but rather than going to a college only for its prestige, find one that fits your needs, has a good department for your major, and can provide you the type of experience you wish to get out of it (ie research opportunites, social life, prepares you for work right out of college ect.)

Good luck... check out ucsd.. that's where I go :)

It depends on a number of factors. Are you looking at grad schools or undergrad? Are you looking for a private school or public school? What are you planning on majoring in? Some good UC schools are UCLA, and UC Berkely. Some good CSU are San Diego State University. Some good private schools are Stanford and USC.

It depends on what level you are looking for. If you want a major prestige school, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC are all very good. Most of the other UCs are good, as are places like Santa Clara, University of the Pacific, University of San Francisco, Loyola Marymount, and the University of San Diego. If you want a CSU, look at San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton, CSULB, San Francisco State, or CSU Chico.

The best universities in California are:

1. Stanford University
2. Cal Tech
3. University of California at Berkeley
4. UCLA
5. USC
6. UCSD
7. UC-Davis
8. Any other UC school
9. Any of the Clairmont colleges

None of the CSU schools make my list of good universities in California except for the Cal Poly schools.

It all really depends on what you would like to major in. SDSU is a great one, as well as Chico State and Sac State.
