in fantasy and adventure books? It can be something as simple as "I like to see characters fight over the last bit of food" all the way to "I like the main plot to involve searching for an object." You can include dislikes also.

What I like in a fantasy/adventure book:
Humor. Anything that makes me laugh. Little fights and expressions is what really gets me smiling in a good book.
Dislikes:
Vampires and people with animal parts. Also modern fantasy books drive me up the wall! Getting lost on an island during a hurricane really gets me angry also. It has been done too many times!

Quite honestly I prefer vampire stories that stick to the original set of guidelines set out by Stoker. Nowadays, vampires do pretty much anything and that isn't what Stoker intended. He intended to show that vampires had to exist within certain very strict limitations and they lacked free will. Today's vampires do whatever the heck they want, which takes away the original intent.

A lot of fantasy drives me bonkers. I tried to read Piers Anthony ONCE and almost went into a diabetic coma. Not for me - sorry.

I love humor - Christopher Moore cracks me up. He and I have exchanged letters and he is as hilarious in his letters as in his books. Lamb had me laughing on the train one day. People thought I was nuts. Glen Cook's Garrett books are amazing and hilarious. They defy description. Read them!!

I love good old 40's Detective Noir fiction. I am a sucker for a good old Alpha Male character - either from Dashiell Hammett in the 40's or Daniel Silva today.

But what I really really really would like to read about?? I would like to read about our troops coming HOME from Iraq. God bless them all. Pax - C

I like in fantasy to have unusual but gifted characters. I like in adventures to have medical ideas, things about contagion & how the doctors deal with it.

In fantasy I dislike witches & wizards. I dislike adventures in the Wild West, or in wartimes, or on ships; any of those male-oriented places with really specific vocabularies.

I like to read about magic and the perils my favorite characters must go through because, in the end, they succeed.
