They are called "tennis shoes" not rubber shoes. Rubber shoes are those flimsy little flip flops that americans wear in the shower and filipinos wear everywhere, including playing basketball. Try to remember this in case someone asks you "what the heck is rubber shoes?"

Sorry Folks but in this part of the world it is as follows:
"Tennis" shoes = "Sand" shoes made from canvas
"Rubber" shoes = ADIDAS, PUMA etc made from rubber
"Flip Flops" = "Thongs" made from rubber or plastic
"Slippers" = Only worn inside the house made from cloth like material
"Sandals" = semi-enclosed with straps made from leather, rubber or plastic
I don't know where Bob gets his information from.

Flip Flops!

I find them a lot more comfortable than rubber shoes because they don't constrain my feet. I like to let my toes out every once in a while, especially after a good pedicure. Besides, it's a lot more practical during rainy seasons. Because while rubber shoes go *squish* after it gets wet, I could just wipe off my flip flops and be on the go again. :D

I'll wear dem things for me feet, whatever they're called.

In school, my feet used to have cuts cuz shoes I used had nails, and the soles had holes, and worn out and the nails were sticking out.

I went to Saudi to be able to wear good shoes.
And without the nails. But now my shoes are worn out again, and I just don't care. Just as long as there are no nails.

If flip-flops it is, then I'll wear em, too - just as long as they have no nails.

Flipflops can be comfortable but not at all 'healthy' for the feet. You might develop plantar fasciitis, its the pain at the heel of our foot. For walking long distances its still better to wear comfy shoes with proper arch support.

First of all, thanks for adding me up to your network.
Second, they still call them Rubber Shoes, Sneakers, Tennis Shoes, high top, low top... But I love my Flip flops for sure, I brought five of them in SM and am loving them and can't go one day without wearing them.

This BOB has been lecturing to YAPpers, instead of answering. I saw still another answer from him correcting the asker, saying, he/she should say "worse" not "worst". He was actually correct there. But he himself is not an authority, so he must not lecture. He spells aphrodisiacs as aphrodesiacs, inflammatory as inflamatory, filth as filthe. He is condescending towards Filipinos. Check out his answers in his profiles. He consistently says we rip off foreigners. That we take advantage of foreigners when we host them in our homes. That we are lazy. Once he even suggested to me "kill yourself" as an answer to my question regarding demolition of shanties.

To be fair, I wrote to him PRIVATELY about these observations, thinking I should be more decent than him and call his attention instead of posting it. But he did not even reply. He must be exposed.
