Our family doesn't really speak too many affectionate words to each other ... But we pretty much know what each other's thinking through our own words .. Not sure how to explain it really. Last time my Dad told me he loved me was last January. Cried a little bit 'cause I wasn't used to hearing it.

Just a couple of words; most of the people in my family are closer to non-relatives than to the family members.

We are very affectionate. Hugs and kisses everyday. My kids always hear me tell them I love them. Its weird because growing up, it wasn't like that for me and my family. We weren't big on that kind of stuff. I didn't want it to be like that with my young ones. Its good to let them know how much you care. Kids need to hear and feel these things.

My family is not. We firmly believe in one's private personal space. My husband's family however, is opposite. He and his siblings will kiss his Mom goodbye on the lips(nothing freaky) and they will stand 6 inches from your face to have a conversation with you. Drives me crazy.

i am affectionate with my own kids and grand children but my mother and family are not that affectionate.

my hubby & kids & I are very affectionate with each other....
that is not how I grew up..... I wanted my kids to have a different upbringing....

when i was younger it was never a hug goodmorning or anything like that, but as i have grown up i have become so needy that i hug my parents alot and they look at me like i am crazy but i just latch on and hug!
