Im definitly a fan of most everything Carlin put out as far as stand-up goes. And even though this might not really qualify Phil Hendrie is another good one. For those of you not familiar with him check him out. It is a radio host that fakes conversations about pretty controversial stuff with a "made-up" character. And callers really call in thinking the conversation is actually between two different people.

My favorite of all time is Jerry Lewis. He was (and is) a consummate performing comedian. His timing is superb and even though he is over 80, he still 'has it'.
He can take any subject and make it a comedy sketch or make fun of someone in the blink of an eye.
He also can sing, dance and is still a beloved icon in France.
I am also a Bill Cosby fan as second to Lewis. He has a different kind of humor. Its more family oriented and he makes people comfortable listening to his humor.
He tells stories from real life.
If you ever get a chance to see him live, you should.
He has some stories that will leave you 'in stitches' for many days after.

Bob Newhart & Bill Cosby. They felt no need to work "blue" and do hysterical stand up routines.
