If you don't know, it's an indication your probably shouldn't do it. Just defragment the disk or take it to a technician.

Because you don't know you came to the right place to ask. Your emachine has a partition that will restore your PC to it's original state. During the boot process (startup) you have the option of hitting an f# key. Some PC's are F10, others may be F8. You should see which one to hit. Hit the key and follow the on screen prompts. Chose destructive recovery and this will reset everything.

most brand PCs these days don't come with Windows disks, but provide a way to burn off a set of recovery disks. If this is the case with this pc, and they haven't been burned yet you still can. look in the Start > All Programs menu for the manufacturer's folder, and in there look for the manual. (If it's not there go to their website under "Support" for the manual -- "drivers & downloads" usually.) the manual will explain how to burn them off.

note: you also might have a recovery partition. that's an alternative to using the disks. you would press a key or combination of keys at boot to start the process. look in the manual for that too (something like: "Recovery Options").
