If it just happened to start running slow you can bet the ranch it's because you have spyware. Download Spybot Search and Destroy or Ad-Aware to get rid of it.

If you dont' restart the computer often then restart
If any programs start up with the computer see if you can get them to stop loading...
Uninstall the programs you are not using.
defrag your hard drive.
Disconnect devices except for keyboard and mouse.
Try other programs like ad-aware or onecare

Best anti-spyware is superantispyware.com (free trial)...might want to try a disk defragment also,that speeds up your computer too....
