You already have the answer, but here is how you do it for future use. 5 8ths = 5/8 (5 over 8) To change this to a decimal, just divide the bottom number (8) into the top number (5) So 5 divided by 8 = 0.625

That "line" in a fraction can be thought of as a divide sign.

Say to your self "5 divided by 8" if you do it as a long division question you will have 8 on the outside and .500 on the inside. Or be lazy, get a calculator and type in 5 divided by 8 equals...and you'll get the answer 0.625
