THERE ARE MORE AMERICAN CITIZENS KILLED BY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN
THE UNITED STATES, THAN ARE KILLED IN THE WAR IN IRAQ, EVERY DAY

This was e-mailed to me and I was wondering about it's factuality. Is it true? and please give a link for verification.

Thanks in advance.

I get a lot of stuff forwarded to me and it NEVER has a source or verification. That's why I'm asking here because I can't find anything myself.

I checked Snopes before I posted the question, there was nothing.

I suspect even if true the actual numbers involved are minor. Logic should tell us this is a dopey argument.

In war zones, on average, few Americans die on any given day. One or two tops. In 4.5 years of fighting, we have lost only a few thousand people. (too many to be sure, but not many, considering it is a war).

So for more Americans to be killed by illegal immigrants in a single day, there would probably only have to be 1 or two deaths. Easy numbers to reach in a population of 300 million people or so. Especially considering, traffic accidents, crime, etc. (lots of ways to die with involvement from others and not all are hostile).

What isn't said, is HOW whoever compiled this 'fact' came up with it. what is their source? Can they back it up?

Never trust a 'fact' that can't be backed up with a detailed explanation of how that 'fact' was derived. If you don't check out what is claimed, they are playing you for a fool!

How would you verify this statement? Go into every prison and ask the inmates if they're legal? Of course not. This is very difficult to verify. There are several large cities who have made it illegal to ask someone who is arrested for committing a crime if they are legal immigrants. This is an assumption that would be almost impossible to prove either way in the situation we have now.

If you are given something that you want verified, it's a good idea to check with the Urban Legend website:

I would really like to know the source of this email. Not who sent it-but where they got their information. I cant say if it's true or not without knowing where the statistics came from.

I doubt that it is factual, because if it was, those who are most vocal about illegal aliens, would have a field day with it.

Sounds like hooey to me. Most people, especially women, are killed by someone they know.

Where did the person who sent this to you come by such "information"?
