I was reading somewhere that stated that the Chicago Bears waved Chris Leak. What does this mean?

He's no longer on the team. The Bears will probably sign him to their practice squad though. If a team doesn't think a player is "NFL ready" often times they will cut a player then re-sign him to their practice squad for the regular season. Where they will continue working with the team in practice, they're just not on the active roster and if an injury occurs or player on the NFL roster doesn't perform [i.e. Grossman] they have the option to activate him - it's like a redshirt in college. If the Bears don't sign him, I'm sure someone will. Just wait and see, everyone's going to have injuries and looking for players after week one.

Chris Leak got cut from the Bears meaning he is no longer on the team roster and he is now available for any other team to acquire.

It means he stinks. The Bears have three QB and so they released Leak. He is essentially a free agent for anyone to pick up. However, he could go through waviers and work on the Bears practice squad. I hope not one Florida QB is enough for me to deal with.

The Bears cut him over the weekend... kind of strange considering how "excited" the entire coaching staff was with him signing. Anyways I haven't heard anything else on him as of yet, but I'm sure he'll be signed by another team pretty soon.

It means they waved goodbye to the worthless turd. When you look at the garbage QB's Chicago kept, you see what garbage Leak is.
