Hi, I am a junior who is looking for an internship in either business (preferrably marketing) or pyschology or journalism for the summer of 2008. I live in Fremont, California and am open to anything. I want to do this internship in order to go to Uc Berkeley, so if there is any intership connected to the school that would be even better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Okay, this is my area - I'm a marketing professor who spends a lot of time finding internships for our students (although I'm in SoCal, so I don't know of all the Northern California opportunities. I only look for those in the Spring when a lot of our students are planning for their summers near home). You might look at a website called www.indeed.com. Put in Marketing Intern and Berkeley, or Fremont, and you will find that they list a fair number of internships in the Bay Area. Another possibility is to sign up on LinkedIn.com, which is a business networking site (kind of like Friendster, only professional). Their job search function uses a search engine which picks up a lot of internships from other sites. If you want, email me and I'll send you an invitation to link (I would only need your name and email address. Another site which has marketing internships, but I'm somewhat less impressed with it, is www.wetfeet.com. Another, slightly less direct possibility, particularly if you are interested in advertising, is to go onto www.adforum.com and make a list of the agencies near you. Then go onto the agencies' websites to see what they have to say about internships; a lot of them list them on the site.

Good luck!

Also, check out career.berkeley.edu/Internships/Internships.stm
and make sure to look at the requirements aka if high school students are allowed to do the internships.

Good luck!
