Yecch. No drama? Well, get in the play this semester and ask the drama teacher to help you prepare for your audition for LaGuardia Arts. If you want to learn the proper way to audtition and how to introduce and close your monologue, you may want a copy of my free book. Click on my name, read my profile and if you want the book, contact me at my aol address.

If you just started school then make an appointment with your counselor ASAP to see if there's room in the class. Being in Jr. High, it may be that Drama and Computers are semester long classes and you may have Drama next semester, but you should find out now. Just go to the office and make an appointment but do not wait or they won't make the change. While you're there ask them about the dates for choosing your high schol and if there's anything you can do now to best prepare yourself for getting in to the school of your choice. Find out when applications will be available so that you can get yours ASAP, find out what will be expected of you at the auditions, see if they have a website with a calendar, get all the information you can. If your counselor is not as helpful as you'd like, call LaGuardia directly and ask them. Write down your questions, keep track of who you spoke to and what they told you.

Prepare well in advance. If you will be expected to do a monologue or two, you should begin preparing them now. Same with your songs. As long as you know the guidelines to follow you'll know what to do.

If you have a MySpace, maybe you can find current students who wouldn't mind answering some of your questions about the school and getting in. Just don't be too stalker-like if you know what I mean :-).

best of luck!
