It had risen from the previous day. Meaning Tuesday was worth more than Monday. 38.50 - 4.08 = 34.42
A stock cannot be worth a negative number by the way, so if you ever see a question like that again, just cross those answers off.

First two answers are dead wrong. It's a simple calculation. Tuesday 38.50, the day before 4.08 lower (as it has risen on Tuesday by 4.08), so 38.50 minus 4.08 = 34.42 on Monday , giving you answer a as the right one.
