How much can a Consultant charge for an IT Position?

I have a consulting gig, first one, well known in the company, its a Vice President role in IT for a Client Services division, how do i find out the going hourly rate for consulting in my area? Any website to refrence to for this? thanks a bunch!

Be sly , call the Consultants listed in the yellow pages .
Tell them you are working up a budget and need to know their rates , should you require their services in the near future .

It really does depend on the area and the specific type of job. I've seen IT jobs charging anywhere from $75 to $250 per hour.
